Route Studies
Pre-move route analysis that identifies clearance issues, permit risks, and the safest path before your wheels leave the yard. Built for the loads we actually run.
Real clearances, measured in the field
Maps and overhead data get you close. A route study confirms it. We measure overpasses, signal arms, signage, and utility crossings against the actual height of the load, not the stated minimum on a state inventory.
Turning paths and tight transitions
Intersections, ramps, and yard entries are where oversize moves get stuck. We walk the tight points, document swing angles, and flag the segments where a steerperson or rolling road block is going to be required.
Permit-ready documentation
Findings come back as a clean, shareable route study you can hand to the permit office, the carrier, and the escort drivers. Photos, measurements, and a written narrative for every obstacle on the route.
Risk identified before it costs money
A wrong turn under a bridge is expensive. A canceled load is more expensive. A route study moves both of those costs from the field to the planning phase, where they are still solvable on paper.
When a route study earns its keep
Any load that pushes a corridor's published limits deserves a closer look. Tall transformers, wide prefabricated structures, long beams, and any move through dense urban or industrial areas all benefit from a survey that goes beyond the permit application.
The cheapest time to discover a low underpass or a tight roundabout is on a survey vehicle days before the move. The most expensive time is the night of, with the load already staged and a state trooper holding traffic.
What a WTC route study includes
- Origin to destination drive with documented measurements at every constraint
- Vertical clearance verification with a height pole at every relevant crossing
- Photos and notes on tight turns, narrow shoulders, and rough surfaces
- Identification of where utility lifts, traffic control, or law enforcement will be required
- A written summary you can submit with permits and share with carriers and escorts
