WTC Pilot Cars

PEVO Driver Training

Training built around the realities of pilot car work: defensive driving, regulations, route planning, equipment, and the on-the-road judgment that keeps oversize loads moving safely.

PEVO curriculum built for real work

The Pilot Escort Vehicle Operator program covers the foundation every escort driver needs: regulations, traffic control, communications, route surveying, and emergency response. We help drivers prepare for it the way an experienced operator would teach it.

State-specific certifications

Several states require their own certification on top of PEVO, with their own curriculum and renewal cycle. We help drivers track which states they need to run in and get the right credentials in place before they accept loads there.

Equipment that meets the requirements

Vehicle signage, warning lights, CB radios, traffic cones, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, and high pole construction are all part of the training, because a certified driver in non-compliant equipment is still going to get turned around at the state line.

Judgment that comes from the road

Coursework gets a driver to the starting line. We pair newer drivers with seasoned operators, start them in chase positions, and grow them into high pole and steerperson roles as their judgment develops on real loads.

Certifications we support

We help new and experienced drivers line up the certifications that match the routes they want to run. If you are starting out, we will walk you through what to take first and how to add the rest over time.

PEVO

Pilot Escort Vehicle Operator certification recognized across multiple states.

Evergreen

Required for moves through Washington and many western corridors.

WITPAC

Wisconsin certified pilot escort training.

Steerman

Specialized certification for steerable trailer operations.

Who this is for

New drivers who want to enter the oversize industry through the right door, and working drivers who need to add a credential to keep running the routes they already know. Both should expect a real curriculum, real road time, and real follow up.
